Key Responsibilities
- Provide regular, person-centred housing-related support to clients, including home visits and office-based appointments.
- Develop and implement individual support plans, setting realistic goals and monitoring progress towards independent living.
- Assist clients with tenancy management, including understanding tenancy agreements, rent payments, and property maintenance.
- Offer advice and practical support on welfare benefits, budgeting, debt management, and accessing financial aid.
- Liaise effectively with external agencies such as social services, mental health teams, substance misuse services, and probation.
- Support clients in accessing education, training, employment, and community activities to enhance their well-being.
- Manage and respond to crises, challenging behaviour, and safeguarding concerns in line with organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes, reports, and administrative records.
- Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure their rights and needs are met.
- Promote healthy living, safety, and community integration among residents.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a housing support, social care, or related client-facing role.
- Demonstrable understanding of housing law, welfare benefits, and safeguarding principles.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, capable of managing a varied caseload.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Resilience and emotional intelligence to manage challenging situations effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general IT skills.
- Valid UK driving license and access to a car for travel across Penarth and Cardiff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in Housing, Social Care, or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3/4, Diploma).
- Experience working with vulnerable adults, including those with mental health issues, substance misuse, or complex needs.
- Knowledge of local community resources and support networks in Penarth/Cardiff.
- First Aid certification.
