Key Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for various dental procedures.
- Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures, including operative, preventative, and surgical care.
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment, ensuring strict adherence to infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as instructed by the dentist.
- Manage patient records, including updating medical histories and documenting treatment plans.
- Provide post-operative instructions and oral hygiene education to patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients to ensure their comfort and address any concerns.
- Order and maintain dental supplies inventory.
- Perform basic lab procedures such as pouring impressions and trimming models.
- Assist with scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program
- Current Radiology certification (RDA/CDA preferred)
- CPR certification
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Dental Assistant
- Proficiency in dental terminology and procedures
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Expanded functions dental assistant (EFDA) certification
- Experience with Eaglesoft or similar dental practice management software
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish)
- Advanced certifications in specialized dental fields (e.g., orthodontics, periodontics)
