Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Customs Compliance Specialist to join our thriving team in the historic Cathedral District of Saginaw. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in ensuring that all our import and export activities strictly adhere to a complex web of national and international customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements.

As a Customs Compliance Specialist, you will be the linchpin in mitigating risks associated with cross-border transactions, safeguarding our reputation, and contributing directly to our operational efficiency. Your expertise will be vital in navigating the nuances of global supply chains, from tariff classification and valuation to origin determination and Free Trade Agreement (FTA) utilization. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain import/export documentation and records in compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and other governmental agencies.
  • Determine correct Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs) for products.
  • Conduct thorough valuation assessments for imported goods, ensuring adherence to CBP guidelines.
  • Research and interpret trade regulations, policies, and laws, including Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), to optimize duty payments and ensure compliance.
  • Prepare and submit post-entry amendments, protests, and voluntary disclosures as necessary.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., procurement, logistics, sales) to gather necessary trade data and ensure compliance across the supply chain.
  • Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other third-party service providers.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal customs compliance policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Monitor and report on changes in customs regulations and assess their potential impact on company operations.
  • Participate in customs audits and respond to inquiries from government agencies.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for duty savings and compliance process improvements.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience in customs compliance, import/export operations, or international trade.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR) and related trade laws.
  • Proficiency in HTS classification, ECCN determination, and valuation methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of Free Trade Agreements (e.g., USMCA) and other preferential trade programs.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory texts and apply them to business operations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Logistics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) certification.
  • Experience with Global Trade Management (GTM) software platforms.
  • Project management experience in a compliance-related field.
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
