Key Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment areas and equipment for patient use, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and organization according to clinic protocols.
- Assist licensed physical therapists with patient care, including guiding patients through prescribed exercises, stretches, and therapeutic modalities.
- Monitor patient comfort, progress, and safety during treatment sessions, promptly reporting any changes or concerns to the supervising physical therapist.
- Maintain inventory of clinic supplies, assist with ordering, and ensure necessary materials are always available and properly stocked.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, processing paperwork, and answering phones as needed.
- Educate patients on proper use of home exercise equipment and techniques under the direct guidance and supervision of a therapist.
- Adhere strictly to all HIPAA regulations and maintain absolute patient confidentiality at all times.
- Assist with laundry, changing linens, and overall clinic maintenance to ensure a professional, sanitary, and inviting environment for all.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to interact empathetically with diverse patient populations.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively, both independently and as part of a collaborative team setting.
- Basic computer proficiency for scheduling, electronic record-keeping, and general office tasks.
- Physical stamina and strength required to assist patients with mobility, transfer, and to move and set up equipment safely.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a Physical Therapy Aide certificate program or equivalent specialized training.
- Previous experience (6+ months) in a healthcare setting, ideally within physical therapy, rehabilitation, or a clinical support role.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and basic human anatomy.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
