Job Description

We are actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist to join our esteemed healthcare network for an immediate start in Beeston, Nottingham. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venepuncture safely and efficiently on patients of all ages, adhering to all clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Ensure accurate collection, labelling, and preparation of blood samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Provide clear and concise instructions to patients before, during, and after blood collection procedures.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions post-venepuncture and respond appropriately.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control, health, and safety policies.
  • Manage and maintain phlebotomy equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper stock levels.
  • Accurately record patient information and details of samples collected in relevant systems.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities as required.

Required Skills

  • Valid Phlebotomy certification or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 12 months practical experience as a Phlebotomist in a clinical setting.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in venepuncture techniques across diverse patient populations.
  • Exceptional patient care and communication skills, with the ability to put patients at ease.
  • Strong understanding of infection control procedures and universal precautions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in basic computer systems for data entry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within an NHS or private healthcare environment.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of various laboratory tests and sample requirements.
