Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Estimator to join our dedicated team in Kerrytown, Ann Arbor, for an immediate start. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for various construction projects (commercial, institutional, residential).
- Conduct thorough quantity take-offs from architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and project manuals.
- Solicit and review subcontractor and vendor bids, ensuring scope coverage and competitive pricing.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and contract requirements to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a robust database of construction costs, material prices, and labor rates.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to refine estimates and proposals.
- Participate in client meetings and present detailed breakdowns of project costs and assumptions.
- Perform value engineering to identify cost-saving alternatives without compromising quality or schedule.
- Assist in the preparation of bid packages, proposals, and contract documents.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, material costs, and new technologies to enhance estimating accuracy.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Construction Estimator in commercial, institutional, or residential construction.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, AutoCAD, Revit).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and local building codes.
- Exceptional ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven negotiation and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or other relevant professional certifications.
- Experience with project management software (e.g., Procore, CMiC).
- Familiarity with local Ann Arbor/Michigan market conditions and subcontractor base.
- Experience with various project delivery methods (e.g., Design-Build, CM at Risk, Lump Sum).
