Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessments, medication administration, wound care, and vital sign monitoring, according to established policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to documentation standards.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations, utilizing critical thinking and clinical judgment.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and healthcare assistants (HCAs) as appropriate.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuous professional development.
- Adhere to all regulatory standards, ethical guidelines, and professional nursing practices.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Required Skills
- Current registration in good standing with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in an acute care or community health setting.
- Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop effective care plans.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience in specialized areas such as geriatrics, palliative care, or mental health.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and mentorship experience.
- Fluency in additional languages relevant to the local community.
