Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Import Coordinator to join our bustling team in Netherfield, Nottingham. As an Import Coordinator, you will be instrumental in managing the entire import process from origin to destination, ensuring timely and compliant movement of goods across borders. Your expertise will ensure that all imported goods adhere to international trade regulations, customs tariffs, and company policies, minimising delays and optimising costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete import lifecycle, from order placement to final delivery, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Prepare, check, and process all necessary import documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
  • Coordinate customs clearance procedures, working closely with customs brokers and authorities to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and tariffs.
  • Liaise with international suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and airlines to track shipments, resolve discrepancies, and manage delivery schedules.
  • Monitor and update shipment statuses in the company's internal systems, providing regular updates to internal departments and customers.
  • Calculate and verify import duties, taxes, and other associated costs, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping.
  • Identify and resolve any issues or delays that may arise during the import process, implementing effective solutions promptly.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of import regulations, customs laws, and international trade agreements.
  • Support the continuous improvement of import processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an import coordination, logistics, or freight forwarding role.
  • Solid understanding of international shipping procedures, customs regulations, and import documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with logistics software or ERP systems.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for liaising with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree or professional qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
  • Experience with specific customs declaration software (e.g., CHIEF, CDS).
  • Knowledge of Incoterms 2020.
  • Familiarity with various transport modes (sea, air, road freight).
