Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient observations, including vital signs, and escalate concerns appropriately to senior staff.
- Assist with patient assessments, contribute to care planning, and re-evaluate interventions under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Perform delegated clinical tasks such as venepuncture, ECG recording, catheter care, and basic wound management.
- Accurately and comprehensively document patient care, observations, and interventions in electronic and paper health records.
- Provide essential personal care and support, always promoting patient independence, privacy, and dignity.
- Educate patients and their families on health promotion, self-management techniques, and medication adherence.
- Work collaboratively as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring seamless patient journeys and effective communication.
Required Skills
- Level 4 or 5 qualification in Health and Social Care (e.g., Foundation Degree, HNC/HND in healthcare practice).
- Minimum of 2 years' recent experience working as a Healthcare Assistant Practitioner or in an equivalent advanced HCA role.
- Demonstrable proficiency in core clinical skills including venepuncture, ECG recording, and basic wound management.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Proven ability to work autonomously, exercise initiative, and make sound judgments within your scope of practice.
- Strong observational and assessment skills, with a keen eye for detail and patient welfare.
- A compassionate, patient-centred approach to care delivery and a genuine passion for the healthcare sector.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., Nursing and Midwifery Council for Nursing Associates).
- Prior experience working within urgent care, community health, or primary care settings.
