Key Responsibilities
- Assist fee earners with all aspects of residential conveyancing transactions from instruction to post-completion.
- Draft legal documents including contracts, transfers, and exchanges.
- Conduct property searches and compile detailed reports.
- Liaise professionally with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, and other third parties.
- Manage and organise case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Prepare and process financial statements and invoices.
- Handle client enquiries and provide updates on case progress.
- Undertake administrative duties such as scanning, photocopying, and managing incoming/outgoing post and emails.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 12 months' demonstrable experience working as a Conveyancing Assistant or in a similar property legal role.
- Proficient in residential conveyancing procedures and terminology.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Competent in using legal case management systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive and eager to learn and develop within the conveyancing field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the local Sheffield property market.
- Experience with specific conveyancing software (e.g., Leap, Proclaim).
- Relevant legal qualifications (e.g., CILEx, Paralegal qualification, or degree in Law).
- Ability to deal with complex or challenging transactions.
