Job Description
Hiring.zycto is urgently seeking a dedicated and experienced Probate Administrator to join our esteemed legal team in Aspley, Nottingham. You will be responsible for guiding clients through the entire probate process, from the initial instruction through to the final distribution of assets. This involves drafting various legal documents, including applications for Grants of Probate or Letters of Administration, preparing detailed estate accounts, and managing communications with beneficiaries, financial institutions, and HMRC. A significant part of your role will involve calculating and settling inheritance tax, income tax, and capital gains tax liabilities, requiring a solid understanding of tax implications within estate administration.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of probate matters from initial instruction to final closure, ensuring timely and efficient progression.
- Draft and prepare all necessary legal documents, including Grants of Probate/Letters of Administration, Wills, and estate accounts.
- Liaise effectively with clients, beneficiaries, financial institutions, land registries, and HMRC.
- Calculate and settle inheritance tax, income tax, and capital gains tax liabilities for estates.
- Administer estate assets and liabilities, including property sales, bank accounts, and investments.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date client files and records in compliance with SRA regulations.
- Provide compassionate, professional, and clear advice to bereaved clients throughout the probate process.
- Adhere strictly to all legal and regulatory requirements, including data protection and anti-money laundering regulations.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience in probate administration within a legal setting.
- Strong working knowledge of probate law, practice, and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts simply.
- Proficiency in legal case management software (e.g., Leap, Proclaim) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Empathy, discretion, and a professional approach when dealing with sensitive client situations.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) qualification or working towards it.

- A legal degree or equivalent professional qualification (e.g., CILEx, Legal Executive).
