Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
  • Support clients with instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, and medication reminders.
  • Provide companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities.
  • Monitor and report changes in client health, behaviour, or needs to the supervising nurse or care coordinator.
  • Document care provided accurately and promptly.
  • Ensure a safe and clean living environment for clients.
  • Assist with transfers and use of mobility aids as required.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Respect client privacy and maintain confidentiality.

Required Skills

  • Valid Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate or equivalent.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and compassion.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in home care or a long-term care setting.
  • Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the Richmond community (e.g., Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi).
  • Experience working with diverse client populations, including those with cognitive impairments (e.g., dementia).
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills for documentation.
