Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Support clients with instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, and medication reminders.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities.
- Monitor and report changes in client health, behaviour, or needs to the supervising nurse or care coordinator.
- Document care provided accurately and promptly.
- Ensure a safe and clean living environment for clients.
- Assist with transfers and use of mobility aids as required.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Respect client privacy and maintain confidentiality.
Required Skills
- Valid Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate or equivalent.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and compassion.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in home care or a long-term care setting.
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the Richmond community (e.g., Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi).
- Experience working with diverse client populations, including those with cognitive impairments (e.g., dementia).
- Knowledge of basic computer skills for documentation.
