Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to individuals with diverse needs, assisting with daily living activities and personal care as required.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized support plans in collaboration with clients, families, and team members.
- Facilitate skill-building activities, community integration, and participation in recreational/social opportunities.
- Monitor and document client progress, behaviours, and incidents, reporting any significant changes to supervisors promptly.
- Advocate for clients' rights, choices, and access to necessary services and resources within the community.
- Administer medication accurately and safely according to prescribed protocols and training.
- Liaise effectively with families, guardians, healthcare professionals, and other community service providers.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive living or activity environment for clients.
- Assist clients with transportation to appointments, outings, and other community engagements.
- Participate actively in team meetings, case conferences, and continuous professional development training.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience in a support role, preferably in a community or healthcare setting.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to client care.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Social Work, Human Services, Community Support, or a related field.
- Experience working with specific client populations such as individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, or seniors.
- Knowledge of local community resources and services available in Richmond and Steveston.
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation training.
- Proficiency in a second language relevant to the diverse population of Richmond (e.g., Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi).
