Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineering Technologist to join our dynamic team in Burnaby, British Columbia. Key Responsibilities
- Assist Professional Engineers with the design and drafting of civil engineering drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and field reviews to monitor progress, ensure compliance with design specifications, and gather data.
- Prepare accurate technical reports, proposals, tender documents, and construction specifications.
- Perform quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and assist with project scheduling.
- Support survey activities, including data collection and processing.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all work adheres to relevant codes, standards, safety protocols, and quality assurance procedures.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical input as required.
- Conduct research and analysis to support design decisions and problem-solving.
Required Skills
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for design and drafting.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles related to grading, drainage, utilities, and road design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to reliable transportation for site visits.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with local municipal standards and bylaws in British Columbia.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered or eligible for registration as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) or Certified Technician (CTech) with ASTTBC.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in municipal infrastructure, land development, or transportation projects.
- Experience with other design software (e.g., MicroStation, Revit) is an asset.
- Familiarity with survey equipment and techniques.
- Experience in construction observation and contract administration.
