Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Payroll Administrator to join our growing team in Downtown Flint. This is a pivotal role that ensures the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of our bi-weekly payroll for a diverse workforce. As a Payroll Administrator, you will be the cornerstone of our compensation system, working diligently to guarantee that every employee is paid correctly and on schedule, adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations.

Your expertise will be crucial in managing the end-to-end payroll cycle, from inputting new hire data and processing timecards to calculating wages, deductions, and withholdings. You will be responsible for reconciling payroll accounts, generating reports, and maintaining meticulous payroll records. Beyond the routine, this role offers an opportunity to contribute to process improvements, ensuring our payroll operations are efficient, scalable, and best-in-class. You will collaborate closely with Human Resources and Finance departments, providing support and insights on payroll-related matters, and ensuring data integrity across systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees accurately and on time, including salaries, hourly wages, commissions, bonuses, and overtime.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and tax laws, including IRS regulations.
  • Manage payroll deductions, including benefits, 401(k) contributions, garnishments, and other voluntary and involuntary deductions.
  • Reconcile payroll data, including general ledger accounts related to payroll, and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and submit all required payroll tax filings (W-2s, 941s, etc.) and other governmental reports.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax-related matters promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll data and processes.
  • Assist with internal and external payroll audits.
  • Stay current with changes in payroll legislation and best practices.

Required Skills

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in payroll processing.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws.
  • Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, UKG, or similar HRIS systems).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles related to payroll.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
  • Familiarity with timekeeping systems and their integration with payroll.
