Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for clients with diverse needs, identifying strengths and challenges.
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to client-centered goals.
  • Provide targeted therapeutic interventions, including activity analysis, adaptive equipment prescription, and environmental modifications.
  • Educate clients, families, and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, adaptive strategies, and risk management.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and social workers, to ensure holistic care.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely client records in accordance with professional standards and organizational policies.
  • Actively participate in case conferences, service reviews, and contribute to continuous service development initiatives.
  • Supervise junior staff or students, providing mentorship and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Adhere strictly to professional codes of conduct, ethical guidelines, and all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Proactively engage in continuous professional development activities to enhance clinical skills, knowledge, and best practice.
  • Manage a varied caseload efficiently, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a qualified Occupational Therapist, minimum 3 years post-qualification.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and highly effective interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, professional guidelines, and evidence-based best practices in occupational therapy.
  • Proficiency in accurate record-keeping, report writing, and case documentation.
  • Exceptional empathy, patience, and a steadfast client-centered approach to care.
  • Current and valid registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Valid UK driving license and access to a car for community-based roles (essential).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in diverse settings such as community rehabilitation, acute care, or mental health.
  • Post-graduate qualifications or specialist training in a relevant area (e.g., neurological rehabilitation, complex care).
  • Experience in supervising junior staff or students, demonstrating leadership potential.
  • Familiarity and proficiency with electronic patient record systems (EPR).
  • Membership in the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).
