Job Description

Are you a proactive, empathetic, and highly organised individual with a genuine passion for making a difference in people’s lives? Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated Neighbourhood Officer to join our Nottingham team with an immediate start. This pivotal role involves being the primary point of contact for residents, fostering strong community relationships, and ensuring high standards of housing management across your designated patch in Mapperley. You will be instrumental in creating safe, clean, and thriving neighbourhoods where residents feel heard and supported.

As a Neighbourhood Officer, you will manage a varied caseload, addressing everything from tenancy breaches and anti-social behaviour to estate management and resident engagement initiatives. Your days will be diverse, requiring a flexible approach and a keen eye for detail. You’ll work collaboratively with internal teams, external agencies, and, most importantly, our residents, to resolve issues proactively and preventatively. This role is not just about managing properties; it’s about building communities, empowering individuals, and ensuring that every resident has a positive living experience. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, bringing their expertise and enthusiasm to contribute to our mission straight away. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent problem-solving skills, and are dedicated to public service, this is an unparalleled opportunity to advance your career and contribute significantly to local community well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a designated patch of properties and tenancies, ensuring compliance with tenancy agreements and housing policies.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for residents, providing advice, support, and signposting to relevant services.
  • Proactively manage and resolve tenancy breaches, including rent arrears, anti-social behaviour, and property condition issues.
  • Conduct regular estate inspections, identifying and addressing maintenance issues, environmental concerns, and communal area management.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with residents, community groups, local authorities, and external agencies.
  • Facilitate and lead resident engagement activities and community development initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed reports, maintain accurate records, and ensure all case management is compliant with legal and organisational standards.
  • Participate in out-of-hours on-call rotas as required (with appropriate remuneration).
  • Promote resident involvement and empower residents to take an active role in their communities.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in housing management, community development, or a similar customer-facing role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and handle challenging situations sensitively.
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation abilities.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of housing law, tenancy management, and welfare benefits.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload effectively.
  • Proficient in using IT systems for case management and reporting.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional qualification in Housing, Social Work, or a related field (e.g., CIH Level 3 or 4).
  • Experience working with diverse communities and vulnerable individuals.
  • Familiarity with the Mapperley and wider Nottingham area.

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and pension scheme.
  • Generous annual leave allowance.
  • Comprehensive training and professional development opportunities.
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment.
  • Employee assistance program.
  • Opportunity to make a tangible difference in the community.
