Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and certified Early Childhood Educator to join our thriving team in the heart of Lower Mission, Kelowna. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate, play-based learning programs and daily activities.
  • Create and maintain a safe, clean, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Observe, assess, and document children's developmental progress and individual needs.
  • Establish and maintain open, effective communication with parents/guardians regarding their child's daily activities and development.
  • Collaborate positively with co-workers and the leadership team to ensure a cohesive and supportive work environment.
  • Ensure adherence to all provincial licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and company policies.
  • Plan and supervise indoor and outdoor play activities, encouraging exploration and active participation.
  • Assist children with personal care routines, including feeding, toileting, and resting.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Required Skills

  • Valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate (BC preferred or equivalent recognized in BC).
  • Minimum 1 year of supervised experience in an early learning setting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of child development principles and practices for ages 0-5.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with children, parents, and staff.
  • Demonstrated patience, creativity, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification (level C preferred).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clear Criminal Record Check.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-basic certification in Infant/Toddler or Special Needs ECE.
  • Familiarity with emergent curriculum, Reggio Emilia, or Montessori approaches.
  • Experience with diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Proficiency in a second language, particularly French or Indigenous languages.
  • Previous experience utilizing early childhood education software for planning and documentation.
